Ratings are various alphabetical and numerical designations used by the
securities industry to give relative indications of bond and note
credit-worthiness.
Standard & Poors and
Fitch Ratings use the same system, starting with
AAA, AA, A, BBB, BB, B, CCC, CC, C, and D.
Moody's Investors Service uses Aaa, Aa, A, Baa, Ba, B,
Caa, Ca, C, and D. The top four grades of each are considered to be
investment grade.
